2.1 Liquid metal risk

Despite all the technical advances, casting and coloring are still high-risk professions.

These risks are manifold:

  • the risk of splashing due to wet scrap introduced into the liquid bath;

  • the risk of violent explosion caused by the introduction of a closed tube or aerosol can during furnace loading;

  • the risk of furnace or ladle breakthrough due to uncontrolled refractory degradation;

  • the risk associated with transporting liquid metal (equipment failure or human error);

  • the risk of radiation emitted by incandescent metal, which can lead to long-term cataract...
