3. Estimates of rheological behavior

3.1 Simple mixing laws

  • General remarks

    In a real multiphase material, strain rate and stress tensors are not uniform (constant) in homogeneous domains, as they must verify at interfaces at least the continuity of the normal component of the displacement vector (or displacement velocity) and the stress vectors associated with the normal. However, all the mixing laws presented in the following will only involve phase-averaged quantities. Initially, we'll focus on so-called "simple" mixing laws, insofar as :

    • they do not explicitly take into account the tensor nature of strains (or strain rates) and stresses;

    • they do not directly involve a localization calculation, and...
