2.1 Tool kinematics, material kinematics
Cold pilger rolling is therefore a tube rolling process in which thickness and inside diameter are reduced simultaneously, in relative proportions freely chosen by the user, via a possibly non-proportional path: we can thus choose to further reduce diameter first, then thickness, or vice versa, or any combination deemed useful for the final properties of the product. The result is a high degree of flexibility, enabling, for example, precise control of the texture of the material
