5. Standardization and specifications

In France, there is no process standard for carburizing and carbonitriding.

On the other hand, there are :

• steel standards for case-hardening and carbonitriding; (EN 10084, see table 2 );

• result control standards ;

• specifications from users who are heavy consumers of these treatments and demand very high quality: PSA, Renault, the aerospace industry, gear manufacturers, etc;

• a number of more individualized specifications, drawn up by large and small users to give them greater control over their subcontractors.
