Overview
ABSTRACT
Carburizing and carbonitriding are two neighboring thermochemical treatments. The choice of the steel grades, as well as the alloying elements, is a significant parameter and crucial for the properties of the carburized or carbonitrided piece. Thus, the core characteristics and in particular the level of resistance and hardness after the hardening treatment are dependent on the carbon content and the nuance of hardenability. The implementation of treatments for carburizing and carbonitriding differ significantly depending on the volumes to be treated, industrial choices, but also the type of process used. Thus, the different lines of treatment, salt baths, in the gas phase or low pressure carburizing are not made ??of the same materials.
