4. Applications in the automotive industry

For many years, carmakers have focused on quality, performance, efficiency and extended warranties.

They have benefited greatly from the use of electroless nickel, thanks to its resistance to corrosion and wear, its lubricity and the rigorous consistency of deposit thickness.

This has improved the performance of various steel and aluminum parts, such as [17][21] : radiators, pistons, engine bearings, hose connections, gears, carburetor parts, injectors, shock absorbers, and so on. Manufacturers have recognized the advantages of nickel in all these applications (and many others) and have included it in their specifications. However, this coating is more appreciated and used in Europe and Japan than in North America.
