 INTRODUCTION

The gas leaving the blast furnace flows against the current of the charge. The materials that make up the charge have been subjected to severe stress during handling prior to charging, and still contain dust despite final screening. This gas, which is recovered and recycled as fuel, must therefore undergo purification.

Only the technological aspect will be dealt with in this text, the theoretical aspect being covered exhaustively in the Physical Phase Separation section [A 5 550] of the Process Engineering textbook.
