4. Liquid cast iron

4.1 Chemical properties of liquid cast iron

Liquid cast iron is an Fe-C-X alloy in which the carbon saturation level is generally between 95 and 100% (table 10 ). The saturation carbon content increases with temperature and varies according to the other dissolved elements ( [M 7 400] , § 4.6) :
