2.1 Casting speed

Casting speed is a very important parameter, as it directly controls the machine's productivity.

The permissible casting speed, although fundamentally dependent on the physical and mechanical properties of the solid steel at high temperature, is in practice the result of a compromise between several factors: steel grade, thickness of the product to be cast, risk of breakthrough, required productivity, investment (machine height and length), suitability for the melting furnace (sequential casting), etc. The best approach is therefore to give the values generally encountered in the industry.
