2. Current status of belt conveyors

2.1 Distribution of belt conveyors in regions around the world

The Plantfacts database, updated by the Steel Institute VDEh in Germany, records the main characteristics of steelworks around the world [23] . According to this database, there are a total of 216 hot strip production facilities worldwide. With a total capacity of 462 million tons, the average capacity of these mills is 2.13 million tons per year. This figure includes conventional continuous mills, as described below, as well as hot reversible mills, such as smaller-capacity Steckel mills. Furthermore, no distinction is made between mills for the production of carbon steels and those for special or stainless steels.
