Indium oxide (In ₂ O ₃ ) and indium tin oxide (ITO), used in the form of thin-film deposits, are the main use of indium. Thin film layers are conductive coatings consisting of 90% indium oxide doped with 10% tin oxide. The properties of LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) crystals are used in the manufacture of flat-panel displays for portable calculators, televisions, video monitors, watches and more. The LCD principle involves depositing a light-emitting material on a glass substrate, on which an ITO layer acts as an anode, allowing the light to pass through.
