2. Direct reduction/electric cooler integration

For the reasons given above, in addition to what can be considered the "classic" use of local scrap, or the possibility of importing scrap (or "substitutes"), a mini-mill can be integrated with a direct reduction plant, i.e. the first solution, shown on the left in figure 1 . This is the simplest solution, where scrap is replaced by locally produced "substitutes".
