3. Electric furnace casting processes

  • Electric melting furnaces or electric reduction furnaces have continued to exist (see figure 2 ) since the post-war period, when a whole series of units were built, mainly by the Elektrokemisk (Norway) and Demag (Germany) companies. Unfortunately, this process, unlike the blast furnace, did not evolve much and gradually declined, as :
