2. Which tools for which products

In this paragraph, we present the main steelmaking tools dedicated to the hot forming phase, simultaneously specifying the thermomechanical parameters (temperatures, strain rates, deformation speeds) and the order of magnitude of the "interpass times" that characterize them.

2.1 Heavy plate

Typical plate thicknesses range from 8 to 100 mm. There are two main product classes: tube plate (for the manufacture of large welded tubes) and plate, widely used in mechanical engineering.
