3. Laser surface fusion treatments

Most laser anticorrosion treatments involve at least one transformation in the liquid state to modify surface properties. Solid-state treatments are therefore not considered here, although they may have an effect on surface reactivity through phase transformations (laser-induced martensitic transformation [M 1 643] ). Among laser treatments with liquid phase transformation, surface remelting is the simplest, and most often meets the desired anti-corrosion criteria.
