6. Conclusion and outlook

Since the early 2000s, with the aim of extending the life of the La Hague plants until 2040, a process for verifying the long-term operability of the facilities has gradually been put in place, taking into account safety, security and operating requirements.

This approach has consolidated Orano's own safety and security cultures, and enabled the development of a wide range of skills in the following fields: non-destructive testing, welding, robotics, and the development of carriers enabling remote inspection and repair operations to be carried out in inaccessible areas. In-depth knowledge of aging mechanisms, in particular nitric corrosion, has also been acquired
