Gutta-percha is a gum derived from the natural latex obtained from the leaves of trees of the Palaquium gutta species and several related species of the Sapotaceae family. Gutta-percha is a polyisoprenoid. The material has adhesive properties, is a good electrical insulator and is bio-inert. It is used in adhesives, surgery (especially dentistry) and stomatology (endodontics).
