3. Cutting data and cutting environment

Despite current transformations in production techniques, notably with the significant growth of "additive manufacturing", machining still has an important future. And with good reason: in terms of production rates and technical specifications, parts made using traditional subtractive manufacturing processes continue to meet very high standards. Ironically, parts made by additive manufacturing regularly have to be "finished" by a subtractive manufacturing process in order to meet the final cosmetic and technical requirements. That said, material-removal shaping processes must keep pace with current technological developments, in particular by embracing the dynamics of digital machining.
