9. Conclusion

The silicate ceramics industry in Europe is on the road to decarbonization, thanks in particular to the latest technological innovations. The very nature of this industry requires large quantities of heat to transform mineral materials into products. Consequently, the quantities of fossil energy and emissions generated by the processes will have to be reduced, captured and sequestered, reused or offset.

The European ceramics industry groups are working together to put in place a highly ambitious EU policy framework, favorable to reducing the sector's environmental impact.
