Spindle bench; roving frame

Machine for stretching a fiber ribbon and forming a slightly twisted strand.

Drawing frame

Spinning machine in which several slivers are juxtaposed in order to reduce mass irregularities, then stretched to align the fibers; the output product is a sliver.

Cardoon; cardoon

Machine for detangling, separating, and cleaning carding or combing tow by the mechanical action of metal fittings.
