4. Complex glass products

4.1 Diaper glasses

First and foremost, the surface of glass is now the carrier of layers that give glass products entirely new properties. Numerous functions are thus provided by the deposition of single or multiple layers. The first objective is to achieve perfect glazing. While the glass panes in our windows have the advantage of insulating us from outside weather, while allowing us to see what's going on inside, we have seen that their transparency in the near and far infrared is a disadvantage. The ideal glazing is therefore one that, while being perfectly transparent in the visible spectrum, is also reflective in the near infrared to reflect solar energy outwards in summer, and reflective in the far infrared to reflect heat from the room back into the building in winter.
