6. Conclusion

Titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) is an inorganic compound crystallized most often in two main forms, rutile and anatase. Its main applications are often related to nano-sized particles used in the manufacture of materials or thin films. These are mainly pigments in paints, plastics and paper. These applications account for around 80% of worldwide consumption, while pigments for textile fibers, cosmetics, glass and food products account for around 8%. Other applications are mainly due to TiO 2 's photocatalytic and dielectric properties. Although they account for only a small share, they are often highly innovative, as in the case of ceramics for electronics and catalysts.
