6. Mistakes to avoid

6.1 Don't overlook other types of installation (mechanical, hydraulic...)

ATEX regulations don't just apply to electrical installations. Mechanical equipment (pumps, gearboxes, etc.) is also covered. Just as there are protection methods for electrical equipment, there are also protection methods for non-electrical equipment. The main types of protection are :

  • explosion-proof enclosure d, standard EN 13463-3 ;

  • construction safety c, standard EN 13463-5 ;

  • control of ignition source b, standard EN 13463-6.
