 INTRODUCTION

You have ATEX gas and/or dust zones on your site and need to install or replace ATEX-certified equipment. You would like to know the rules for selecting and maintaining this equipment to ensure that it will not be a source of ignition likely to cause an existing ATEX to explode.

It's not always easy to read the marking on ATEX-certified equipment. What's more, the cost of bringing a site into ATEX compliance must be justified. It is absolutely essential to know how to read and understand the marking on equipment before purchasing it. The degree of preparation is directly linked to the ability to react and the effectiveness of actions taken.

This data sheet will help you understand the different types of protection available on the market, and familiarize you with equipment marking. As a result, you'll be more at ease when replacing or maintaining your existing equipment. It will help you ask the right questions when designing, building and maintaining your ATEX equipment, by answering the following questions in particular:

  • What to do with "old" equipment that isn't ATEX-certified?

  • How to choose the right equipment for your zoning?

  • How do you maintain or repair this equipment?
