4. Identify chemical agents with a non-regulatory indicative VLEP (including certain CMR agents)
A system of occupational exposure limit values was introduced in France in 1982. A first circular (July 19, 1982) introduced a list of VLEP. These non-regulatory values were indicative in nature. Between 1982 and 1996, the list was progressively extended by circular. Some of these values were repealed as the above regulations were introduced. Several hundred remain.
Occupational exposure limit values (OELVs) are considered to be a risk assessment tool (cf. Circulaire du 24 mai 2006, §7-1-4), and must be measured regularly.
Recommended frequency of VLEP measurement: at least once a year (cf. Circulaire du 24 mai 2006, §7-2-1).
Measurement results should enable us to adjust this frequency.
