2. How do you establish a TRV?

Please note

This method of calculating TRVs does not apply to non-threshold substances such as mutagens, genotoxic carcinogens and endocrine disruptors.

The first step is to establish the toxicological profile of the substance and collect all relevant data, then select the most relevant and valid studies (Klimisch).

Physico-chemical data relevant to inhalation must also be collected, in particular form (gas or particles) and volatility (boiling point and vapor pressure – PKa) as well as solubility in aqueous and lipid media (partition coefficient – log K O/W).

Next, we need to determine the substance's modes of action (MoA) and identify the effects observed on cells and organs (threshold and non-threshold effects).
