1. Identify hazardous chemical agents
The task of identifying hazardous chemicals (substances and mixtures) is part of the same approach as that taken for the assessment of chemical risks for employees, as requested by Code du travail .
This involves listing all the chemical products (raw materials, finished products, synthesis intermediates, waste) used on the site. This is usually done by reading the SDS.
Chemicals, like work organization, are part of the internal hazards (part of the operation), as opposed to external hazards (circumstances outside the site) such as power lines, malevolent acts, lightning, etc.
For example, the most toxic products likely to be found in industry are ammonia, bromine, phosgene, hydrofluoric...
