2.1 Risk of explosion
The risk of explosion exists mainly in the decontamination of disused service stations. This risk is managed by installing fixed explosimeters and systematically issuing fire permits. In addition, the decontamination caissons, which are marine containers, are fitted with ATEX hydrocarbon separators with ATEX blowers and fans. The separators are equipped with vents that release the vapors outside the caisson. The chamber itself is fitted with explosimeters which control the electrical power supply to the chamber in the event of a threshold being exceeded.
