2. What are the requirements for a stored substance purchased within the EEA?

If your substance supplier is based in the EEA, you are considered a downstream user. Therefore, you are not required to register under REACH. Your obligations relate to the dissemination of information and the safe use of the substance (implementation of appropriate risk management measures, etc.).

Important: You must ensure that your supplier has fulfilled these registration requirements. The safety data sheet allows you to quickly verify this by checking for a registration number in sections 1 and/or 3 (the format is 01-XXXXXXXXXX-XX or 01-XXXXXXXXXX-XX-XXXX). If this number is not present, you can contact your supplier to ask for an explanation.
