3. Exemptions specific to certain UN numbers

In addition to these general exemptions applicable to all dangerous goods, certain UN numbers benefit from total or partial exemptions specific to them.

Where these exist, they are indicated in column 6 of table § 3.2, by reference to "special provisions" numbers, the meaning of which is explained in § 3.3.

This includes common exemptions such as those applicable to lithium cells and batteries of low power or low lithium metal content, to the transport of asbestos whose fibers are encapsulated in an inert material (asbestos-cement sheeting), and so on.
