4. How have European regulations been transposed into French law?
Like all directives, Directive 2008/68/CE du Parlement européen et du Conseil du 24 septembre 2008 must be transposed into the local regulations of each Member State in order to be applicable. In France, the latest applicable version is that of l’Arrêté du 29 mai 2009 modifié concerning the transport of dangerous goods by land, known as the "arrêté TMD". Via this transposition, each Member State can add additional requirements, or on the contrary grant derogations to the ADR, applicable only on its territory.
