5. What regulations apply to other modes of transport?

The ADR is the European regulation governing the transport of dangerous goods by road. The texts corresponding to the other two modes of land transport are :

  • the regulations concerning the international carriage of dangerous goods by rail ("RID" regulations) of the Convention concerning International Carriage by Rail (COTIF) of June 3, 1999;

  • the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Inland Waterways, signed on May 25, 2000 ("ADN" regulation).

Their application is identical to that of the ADR (see "Relationship between the various texts applicable to the transport of dangerous goods").
