 INTRODUCTION

The essential constants in X-ray emission spectrometry are the wavelengths of the spectral lines; wavelength tables can be found in specific books or journal articles [1] to [9] as well as in the appendices of books on X-ray spectrometry or in the documentation presented by industrial firms. The aim of this article is not only to present sufficiently precise and up-to-date tables, but also to provide users with the explanations they need to profitably consult tables intended for specialists, as well as certain books on X-ray spectrometry that are difficult for the uninitiated to read. These explanations will appear very basic to the informed reader, but we believe they may be useful to those unfamiliar with X-ray spectrometry; this text can be considered as a complement to the article X-ray emission spectrometry. X-ray fluorescence [P 2 695] from the treatise Analyse et Caractérisation.
