4. Mistakes to Avoid

4.1 Don't forget to update the definitions of the terms you commonly use

The standard uses its own terminology and adapts its meaning when necessary, but it does not require you to use it. Standards in general—and this one in particular—aim to closely align with the needs of their users, to make them easier for everyone to understand (large and small businesses, the industrial sector, the service sector, etc.).

When you use a term defined in the ISO 9000 or ISO 9001 standard within your QMS and quality practices, it is expected that the term be understood in accordance with the meaning given in that standard. What matters is that the meaning attributed to the terms and the resulting practices align with those of the standard.
