4. Conclusion

The long-awaited second version of the IEC 61511 :2016 introduces more or less substantial modifications depending on the stage in the security lifecycle of a SIS.

An in-depth analysis of the content of this new version reveals that the fundamental principles of the standard remain unchanged. On the other hand, certain concepts and definitions in this new version tend to be closer to the "parent" standard IEC 61508 :2010 .
