5. Some significant results

Using the examples presented here, we will try to determine a relationship between chemical composition and aerosol particle size.

5.1 Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in polar atmosphere

The aerosols studied here were collected using a cascade impactor fitted with glass fiber filters. The flow rate is 50 m 3 · h –1 and the sampling time is 24 h. Sampling was carried out in northern Finland, in the Arctic zone, during winter 1997-1998 and summer 1998. PAHs were extracted from the filter by soxhlet extraction, for 3 h using a mixture of two
