2. Crisis risks: how to identify them?

2.1 Crisis risks

A crisis can have several origins. When drawing up a crisis management plan, it is important to identify the potential risks at your site, in order to determine the means of control and the responses required. Here are a few examples which, if they materialize, could lead to a crisis:

  • health/safety risks such as accidents with serious injuries and fatalities, suicides ;

  • environmental risks, such as major pollution ;

  • safety-related risks, such as bomb threats, intrusions and occupations of premises, crowd movements, hostage-taking and kidnappings;

  • natural hazards, such as flooding, landslides, earthquakes and volcanic...
