Risk analysis is an important part of design and development. If these risks are taken into account during the product and service definition phases, they will be easier to control than if they were considered at a later stage. The key is therefore to assess them and decide on actions based on a threshold of acceptability. These risks may affect the product throughout its life cycle, in terms of functionality, safety and reliability of use.
