5. Conclusion

This article has provided a toolkit of models for the integrating engineer who has to design electromechanical and electrohydraulic mechatronic systems. These models, based on scaling laws, can be used to estimate the main characteristics of mechanical transmission components, electrical machines or hydraulic systems during the synthesis and architecture comparison stages. They do not replace detailed design models specific to each technology, as they are based on simplifying assumptions such as geometric similarity, but they do enable the characteristics of a known component to be rapidly extrapolated to a possible component of the same technology.
