1. Determine the type of stress your part will be subjected to

First and foremost, it is essential to know the types of stress that will be imposed on the object. In many cases, this may involve multiple stresses, possibly accompanied by an obligation to achieve results after ageing. Care must therefore be taken to specify all these factors. This will quickly impoverish the list of materials that can be considered. However, it must be admitted that not all constraints combined will result in an absence of response. If this were the case, however, the specifications would have to be reworded and at least partially freed of certain obligations.

Among the most common constraints that will have an impact on the sizing are :

  • mechanical stresses, such as resistance to pressure, stretching or shearing;

  • electrical loads, taking transverse resistivity...
