6. Chemical engineering

Chemical engineering uses silicones for two very different purposes: firstly, to modify processed media to improve their processability, and secondly, to solve engineering problems caused by thermal, mechanical and chemical aggression.

6.1 Antifoam

Thanks to their chemical inertness, defoamers are used, either as such or in emulsions, in a wide range of applications.

Thanks to their suitability for contact with foodstuffs, suitable grades can be used in the food industry.

  • They come in a variety of forms:

    • more or less viscous fluids;
