1. What is financial aid?
A number of public innovation support schemes are available to innovative companies to encourage their research and development (R&D) efforts. They fall into two general categories.
1.1 Direct assistance
Direct aid for innovation is an immediate cash advance equivalent to the level of the applicant's own funds. It is often requested at the start of the entrepreneur's project, and can cover all stages of the innovation or R&D process, including: project conception and definition, patent registration and extension, market research and, more generally, the feasibility studies needed to define and organize projects, experimentation, the development of new or improved products and processes, and the technical innovations needed to develop new services....
