I have very few parameters, is this normal?

Reflections are often only oriented in the direction you are tacitly thinking about. In this case, it's normal that the parameters are few and far between. You need to extend your thinking to other levels, and observe the impact of past-present developments on neglected dimensions.

Isn't it a bit restrictive to observe the evolution of sub-systems based solely on the four components?

Don't forget that this first analysis will lead to others, and that in this exercise you need to concentrate on what's essential (what's vital for the technical system). If you've done the tryptic exercise correctly beforehand, the four most closely observed components should represent the essence of what needs to be analyzed.
