 INTRODUCTION

Medline is the essential biomedical bibliographic database, whose main access interface is PubMed. But a major study has shown that 99% of PubMed searches are "poor" (cf. "A day in the life of PubMed: analysis of a typical day's query log", 2007). A day in the life of PubMed: analysis of a typical day's query log", 2007).

BibliMed is an alternative interface to Medline, in French, offering an intuitive way to create elaborate searches.

This sheet helps you understand :

  • why keyword searching using Medline's MeSH thesaurus is essential;

  • how BibliMed facilitates the creation of efficient queries by suggesting MeSH terms ;

  • how the use of filters and qualifiers in BibliMed can refine your search;

  • how BibliMed makes bibliography management easier.
