3. Use the right tool

3.1 Generalist AI platforms and AI-based search services

ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and many other general-purpose services are capable of performing the summarization and knowledge extraction tasks mentioned above.

Beware, however, of certain limitations on the size or number of files to be uploaded in the free versions of these platforms. Perplexity, for example, allows analysis of up to three documents per day, free of charge. Copilot, in its version associated with the Bing engine, and Google Gemini do not allow text documents to be uploaded; you can, however, paste text into the conversation window.

The free version of ChatGPT lets you upload files with a maximum limit of around 20 MB or 1,000 pages.
