2.1 Genesis and history of a coalition

In line with its core mission – accelerate synergies between maritime industry players – the Cluster Maritime Français launched a survey of its members in December 2017 with the aim of understanding what their needs were to address the issues posed by the ecoenergy transition. Closed in June 2018, a few weeks after the IMO's adoption of the 2050 GHG reduction strategy, this survey led the industry's key players to work together on the challenges of maritime decarbonization, setting in motion a collective national dynamic. The findings of the CMF survey were presented to ADEME, which lent its support to a collaborative study approach and proposed the creation of a coalition of players, the T2EM Coalition (Maritime Eco-Energy Transition).
