The term "OAI harvesters" refers to the search engines used to query open-access data repositories according to the OAI-PMH protocol (Open Archive Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting).

Developed by the University of Michigan and supported by OCLC , it provides access to over 25 million records of multidisciplinary digital resources from open archives.
