7. Conclusions

Due to the consequences of COVID-19, the public's attention is drawn to the application of face masks to protect against viruses. To this end, productive information on face masks in terms of starting materials, primary and advanced processing, filtration mechanisms and related application tests required has been taken into account.

In this article, the weaknesses and strengths of the various types of protective masks were analyzed. Filtration efficiency, penetration mechanisms and parameters influencing these elements were carefully studied. The study also presented various techniques for quality control and processing of face masks.

In this respect, it has been shown that fabric masks and surgical masks are not very effective at penetrating nanoparticles, and that the range of effectiveness remains close to that of micrometric particles....
