2.1 Effects of electric current

The effects of electric current on the human body depend on several factors, including :

  • the nature of the current flowing through the human body (DC, AC) ;

  • the duration of the passage and the path taken by the current in the human body ;

  • the individual's physiological characteristics ;

  • etc.

On this subject, the UTE (Union Technique de l'Électricité et de la Communication) has published a practical guide UTE C 15-110: February 1995 – "Effets du courant sur l'homme et les animaux domestiques. Part 1: General aspects". This guide is a copy of IEC 479-1 (1994).
