2. The iLumens university model

iLumens Paris Diderot is a simulation center attached to the University of Paris Medical School. It welcomes almost 7,000 users a year for initial training of future caregivers, as well as several university diplomas for continuing education of healthcare professionals.

The implementation of a production line based on additive manufacturing was conceptualized back in 2017 with two objectives:

  • offer new educational activities, mainly in surgical fields, by creating simulators for training in rare pathologies or complex techniques (e.g. myocardial revascularization);

  • design and manufacture consumables to free ourselves from dependence on medical simulation markets and reduce simulator maintenance costs.
